Volcanic Candle

A hand made candle. The pot is hand thrown in a coarse black clay and the scented candle is hand poured and features a wooden wick.

Hand thrown from a coarse black stoneware clay and fired to 1,220°C.

Available in red, blue or white. The red version is glazed in a satin red volcanic glaze with dark speckles, which creates a sense of depth. The blue version is glazed in a matt turquoise glaze which is heavily varied with both blue and green colours, and creates a pitted surface texture. The white version is glazed in thin coat of a creamy white speckle glaze, with elements of the black clay showing through.

This item is made in very small batches, and we usually only have one or two in stock. If you would like larger quantities, please write to us using the link in the Contact page. All work is made, glazed, and fired by studio potter James Sims in a small studio in Central London. The handmade nature of the work means that each item will vary slightly making them unique pieces of pottery.
